Roush Fenway Nationwide Teams Head to Nashville

Roush Fenway Racing and NASCAR travel to Nashville Superspeedway this weekend for the first stand-alone Nationwide Series event of the 2010 season. Roush Fenway’s Carl Edwards leads the point standings as the series moves into its fifth event.

Inaugural Victory
Roush Fenway won the inaugural NASCAR event at Nashville on April 14, 2001. Greg Biffle led 133 of 225 laps in the No. 60 Ford in route to the victory.

Nashville Victories
In addition to Biffle’s inaugural victory at Nashville in 2001, Roush Fenway has three more Nationwide victories at Nashville for a total of four in the series. Carl Edwards brought home the other victories, winning three consecutive times at the track from June of 2006 through 2007. In addition, Edwards has one of Roush Fenway’s two truck series wins at Nashville (2003). Travis Kvapil posted the other in 2007. All in all, Roush Fenway has won six times at Nashville Superspeedway in NASCAR action.

Roush Fenway has posted multiple top-10 finishes in five of the eight races at Nashville in which it has fielded multiple entries.

Nashville Highlights
Roush Fenway’s overall best day at Nashville came on June 9, 2007 when the organization placed three cars inside the top eight of the field, including one in victory lane.

‘Captain Concrete’
Roush Fenway’s Carl Edwards has been fittingly referred to as ‘Concrete Carl’ on occasion. In 59 NASCAR starts at NASCAR’s three current concrete tracks, Edwards has 10 wins, 29 top fives, 36 top 10s and four poles, while leading an astonishing 1,583 laps. Four of Edwards’ 10 NASCAR concrete wins have come at Nashville (NWS – 3, truck series – 1).

Roush Fenway in the Nationwide Series
Roush Fenway Racing has a rich history in the Nationwide Series. The organization’s history in the series spans 18 years back to 1993 when it captured seven wins in its first year in the series. Since 1993, Roush Fenway has won 108 Nationwide races, while collecting 364 top five, 543 top 10 and 75 poles, and leading 18,180 laps along the way.
