Mustang Debuts at Daytona

June 30, 2010

The NASCAR Nationwide Series returns to Daytona International Speedway Friday under the lights with live race action starting at 7:30 EST on ESPN.  Fastenal will serve as an associate sponsor on the No. 60 as the Ford Mustang makes it first start of the 2010 season.  The Mustang will race four times during the 2010 season, and become full time in 2011.

Qualifying for Friday nights race can be seen live on ESPN2 at 1:00 PM EST, with live practice Thursday at 5:30 PM EST also on ESPN2.

Fastenal will return as the primary paint scheme next Friday night at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, IL.

Carl Edwards on racing at Daytona International Speedway:

“We are running the New Ford Mustang for the first time and it should make the weekend very exciting at Daytona. As always, we need to stay out of the “big one” and find drafting partners in order to finish well. Our goal is to survive and have a good points night. Daytona is always big, but racing under the lights on the fourth of July weekend is just awesome. There would be nothing bigger than putting the No. 60 Copart Ford Mustang in Victory Lane.”

Crew chief Drew Blickensderfer on racing at Daytona International Speedway:

“We are excited to be bringing the Ford Mustang to the track this weekend for the debut race.  We will have to work hard during practice to get the car to handle well in the draft since it is a new car for us.  Carl is really good at adapting to new cars and conditions so it should be a good weekend.”
