Edwards Finishes Third in New Hampshire

June 26, 2010
Loudon, N.H. (June 26, 2010) – Carl Edwards and the No. 60 Ford team qualified second Saturday at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Edwards was able to run in the top five during the entire afternoon with the Copart crew only making minimal changes to the car during pit stops.

After a tough fight Edwards finished third behind race winner Kyle Busch and second place Brad Keselowski.

“We fought hard today and I think third was really good for us,” Edwards said. “I thought for a little while that we were going to be able to beat Brad (Keselowski) for second. Overall I’m really proud of my crew, they did a great job on pit road. I think we beat everyone on pit road today.”

Edwards stated throughout the first half of the 200 lap race that the car needed a little more grip in the center. Over a period of three pit stops the crew made only slight wedge and air pressure adjustments getting the car where Edwards needed it to handle. By lap 104 Edwards came on the radio saying that the car was the best that it has been all day.

With a weather system quickly approaching, the racing got intense. On lap 182 Edwards would take the final restart of the afternoon in the third position, behind Kyle Busch and Joey Logano. Logano spun his tires on the restart and quickly fell back allowing Edwards and Keselowski to battle for the second position. Unfortunately Keselowski was able to hold on to his position and Edwards would finish third in the New England 200.

Kyle Busch won his sixth Nationwide Series race of the season and Edwards had his ninth top-five finish of the season.

Next Saturday, Edwards and the No. 60 Copart team will head to Daytona International Speedway for the debut of the Ford Mustang. Catch all of the action on ESPN Friday July 2 starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.
