Edwards Finishes 15th at Phoenix
November 9, 2014AVONDALE, Ariz. (Nov. 9, 2014) –Edwards and the No. 99 Fastenal team went into Phoenix with a shot to head to Homestead-Miami if they finished in the top four in points for the Chase. The Fastenal team fought hard and never gave up, but fell short and was eliminated. After lots of hard work and long hours they are now headed to Homestead-Miami with only one mission and that is to go to victory lane for Ford Championship week. Edwards claims the eight position in points for the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
“I’m really proud of everybody,” stated Edwards. “We had some runs that we shouldn’t have had. We made it awfully far, so I’m very proud of everybody. We’ll just go to Homestead and try to get another win. Hopefully, Joey (Logano) can get the win and bring Ford a championship.”
The Fastenal team dug deep again and never gave up through several late race cautions on the mile-oval. They fought a free condition and crew chief Jimmy Fennig called for several trackbar, air and wedge adjustments throughout the 312 lap race and when Edwards crossed the start/finish line he finished 15th when the checker flag flew.
Edwards went on to say, “These guys dug deep and worked hard. I’ve never been a part of something like this where everybody just doesn’t give up. This means the world.”
Next up is the finale for the 2014 Sprint Cup Series for Edwards and the No. 99 team at the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday Nov. 16. Race coverage begins at 3:00p.m. (EST) on ESPN. Coverage can also be heard on MRN and SIRIUS radio channel 90.
