“Concrete” Carl Dominates in Nashville Nationwide Victory
Nashville, Tenn. (April 23, 2011) – Carl Edwards dominated the field, leading 148 of 225 laps on the way to his fourth Nationwide victory at Nashville Superspeedway in Nationwide action on Saturday afternoon.
“It was a fast Ford Mustang,” said Edwards. “They are great on the street and they are great on the race track. What a race. That was just really good, hard racing. I didn’t know how it was going to end up, but I was peddling as hard as I could there.
“We lost a really good friend that builds these race cars – Jonathan Bunting and we are all thinking about him,” added Edwards. “I am going to auction this beautiful guitar (trophy) off for his family and I’m glad we could perform today for Jonathan.”
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. posted a strong fifth-place finish to move into a tie for the Nationwide Series points lead. Trevor Bayne, who qualified on the front row in second, finished sixth in the race.
The win was Carl’s 11th NASCAR victory on concrete and Roush Fenway’s fifth NNS win at Nashville.
The NNS returns to action next week at Richmond International Speedway, where Roush Fenway has won nine times in Nationwide action.
