Carl Edwards Heads to Phoenix Looking to Take Fastenal to the Championship Round
Carl Edwards and the No. 99 Fastenal Blue Team will head to Phoenix International Raceway this weekend with one goal in mind: advance to the final round of The Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship. Edwards currently sits fifth in the standings, just one point outside the final transfer spot.
After this week’s race, The Chase points will be reset, and the championship will be determined at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 16th. … So, if Carl makes the cut at Phoenix and finishes better than the other three qualifiers in Miami, then he will win the 2014 Sprint Cup Championship – and do so behind the wheel of No. 99 Fastenal Ford.
In 20 starts at Phoenix, Edwards has two wins, seven top-five finishes, and twelve top-10 finishes. He has won three pole awards in Phoenix, with an average start of 11.8.
Tune in this weekend to see how it all plays out!

Edwards on Phoenix
"Phoenix is one of my favorite race tracks. It's the first place I ever raced a pavement race in USAC Silver Crown Series. I love going out there. We somehow fought and clawed our way to a top ten finish at Texas, which is what we needed to do. There's no better place for us to go than Phoenix to lock ourselves into the final round. I'm excited about it. We've got Fastenal on board. We hope to go out there and perform the way we know we can. and move on to Homestead where we had a good test the other day. I'm really proud of my whole team and everyone at Roush Fenway Racing for all their hard work and for getting us to this point in the season. This is the most fun stuff you can do as a racecar driver is to go to the race track and have all the pressure and the excitement of a championship battle."
