Bryan Clauson and the Fastenal Dodge in Nashville
Clauson’s Nashville Stats: This weekend will mark Clauson’s second effort in NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) competition at Nashville Superspeedway. He made his first NNS start at the 1.33-mile oval this past March when he and the Fastenal Team worked to overcome a tight-handling race car and long green-flag runs to bring the No. 40 Dodge home in 17th place (started 18th). The teen also competed at the Tennessee track last August in the ARCA 150 during which he started eighth and finished second. Altogether in 2007, he made six ARCA starts, collecting one win, one pole, four top-five and six top-15 finishes.
Clauson Racing into Weekend: Prior to getting on track this Friday in the No. 40 Fastenal Dodge, Clauson will take the track Wednesday night (June 4) at Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind., to enter two midget cars in the USAC Regional Midget race. Clauson will wheel his No. 47 midget car while Hunter Schuerenberg from Sikeston, Mo., races Clauson’s No. 7 midget car. This will be the first time Clauson has entered his two midget cars in the same race since he began his race team earlier this year. Schuerenberg, who is 18-years-old and a recent graduate of Sikeston High School, is a long-time friend and fellow competitor of Clauson’s. The two have been racing together for more than three years. This Wednesday’s run will mark the second start for the No. 47 midget and first for the No. 7.
Welcome aboard, Mason!: Mason Jennings will be spending his first race weekend with the No. 40 Fastenal Dodge Team this upcoming Friday and Saturday, joining the CGRFS NNS crew to serve as tire specialist. He is originally from Edmond, Okla.
CGRFS NNS Rookie Class Update: Clauson is currently second in the NNS Raybestos® Rookie standings, trailing his fellow Fastenal Teammate and NNS rookie class leader Franchitti by eight points (100-92). Clauson has grabbed Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors twice in nine starts this season, first at Daytona and then in early May at Richmond.
Standings Update: The No. 40 Fastenal Team is 19th in the overall NNS owner standings. With a current tally of 1,509 points, the team is 38 points outside the top 15, 228 out of 10th and 678 points away from first.
